Screening
Trust isn't a feeling, it's work
A babysitting marketplace leaves the checking to you. We turn that around: nobody works through NannyNest until we've verified six things ourselves. Here's what we do and why.
Why every step
- 01
Certificate of conduct (VOG)
Every nanny holds a recent Dutch certificate of conduct with the childcare screening profile. That's the strictest version, the same one daycare centres use.
- 02
At least 18 years old
Adults who are legally competent and personally responsible. Many of our nannies are older and have a pedagogical or care background.
- 03
Two references we call
We don't just ask for names, we actually phone them. Parents or employers the nanny has looked after children for before.
- 04
Paediatric first aid
A valid paediatric first-aid certificate, so your nanny knows what to do when a child chokes, falls or gets a fever.
- 05
Identity check
We check the ID document and compare it with the person in the video interview. The nanny who arrives is the nanny we screened.
- 06
Personal video interview
A half-hour conversation about experience, boundaries and real situations. We sense whether someone fits with families, not just with a checklist.
How a screening runs
A nanny applies, we schedule a video interview, verify identity and documents, and then call two references. Only when all six parts are in order does someone earn the NannyNest-screened badge. On average [TO FILL IN: percentage] of applicants make it to the end.
And after that
- After every job you rate the nanny. We read reviews, we don't just average them.
- If something is reported we pause the profile immediately and contact both parties.
- First aid and VOG must stay valid; we remind nannies in time to renew. [TO FILL IN: VOG renewal period]
Insurance
Every booking through NannyNest is covered by liability insurance for damage that occurs during the job. [TO FILL IN: insurer, coverage, excess, exclusions]
This is how babysitting should work
Strict at the front door, so it's relaxed at home.
